After
presenting his wildly popular school assembly programs
for over 15 years in schools across the United
States and Canada, keynote youth speaker & magician Cris Johnson knows first hand just
how many challenges and up hill battles our children
face today.
The world can be a frightening and
confusing place to elementary school students,
with bullying, cyber bullying, drug awareness, self-esteem issues, respect,
problems in the home, difficulties learning and
even more problems than we as adults often realize.
Many adults forget just how lost and "in
the dark" they felt when growing up. It was
difficult then...just imagine what it must be
like to be a child in THIS day and age!
Cris understands kids, and more
importantly, he knows how to relate to them, by
using several presentational "tools"
such as age-appropriate humor, magic, audience
interaction, music and so much more. Cris will
connect with your students, get them to pay attention
and help them cope with the critical character
education issues of our very confusing and intimidating
21st century society!
Cris currently offers FIVE different and important school assembly programs. Here are some brief descriptions of his Bullying, Self-Esteem & Respect, Internet Safety, Drug Awareness and Reading programs for assemblies at elementary schools...
"Yes
I Can!"
This motivational and inspirational
program helps explain to kids why it's who we
are on the inside that matters, not
the outside. The program utilizes different activities to boost self-esteem in kids. Your students are also encouraged not
to give up regardless of hardships they may face in life. Of all the school assemblies on respect, this program is unique because Cris even gives some simple, yet effective and proven, advice (based on observation skills) that will help students be more effective when taking tests.
The entire presentation places a
large emphasis on the idea that we each should
respect ourselves, believe in ourselves and respect
others' rights, ideas, abilities and feelings...while teaching the power of positive thinking for children.
Using his unique magic, humor and other tools,
Cris guarantees this program will lay an excellent
foundation for a "Character Education"
campaign at your school!
"I
Love To Read!"
This reading school assembly program is designed to get
your school excited and energized about reading!
It's been called the perfect kick-off for a Parents As Reading Partners
campaign by many of his past clients and like
his other programs, it can be equally effective
for older grades as well as younger grades.
Cris weaves these three messages throughout the
program: 1. Why it's important to read at least
30 minutes each day; 2. How you can do or be anything
if you're a good reader; 3. Why it's important
to take care of your books.
Older students, such as grades 4-6 or middle school assembly
groups, are treated (in addition to his magic,
humor and other characteristics of his programs)
to two riveting true stories: the first involves
an illiterate high-school graduate from Cris's
past; the second tells the tale of a famous professional
athlete/TV personality and how his poor reading/comprehension
skills have derailed his promising career in two
major professions. This story is very current
and ongoing! Older grades also will witness an
eye-popping display of magic that ties in extremely
well with Cris' presentation on dyslexia.
By presenting a reading program that not only encourages
students to read because it's FUN, but also explains
why it's an absolute necessity in life,
you'll be hosting an elementary assembly program that creates a lasting
impression with your young audiences!
"No
Bullies Allowed!"
This topical assembly program helps answer the question of what schools can do to stop bullying and was
developed with the direct assistance of school
administrators from a New York elementary
school.
This program was put together with two goals in mind: 1. Explain to students why they should respect the feelings of others and 2. what to do if they experience a problem with a bully, giving them ways to stop bullying. The first half of the program covers critical areas of feelings of self-worth, the feelings of others and appropriate behavior. Humor, magic, music, interaction and fun keep the students riveted, as they learn these lessons.
Cris also explains why name-calling and any abuse is a form
of bullying...not just physical encounters.
Also, BRAND NEW for the 2007-2008 school year, Cris has added a strong segment dealing with name-calling and cyber bullying over the Internet. As many school administrators know, "Cyber Bullying" is becoming a serious problem. Boosted by an eye-popping piece of magic, Cris has designed this segment to stay up-to-date with the latest concerns of parents and school administrators.
The second half of the assembly program also offers three simple and non-violent
techniques for students to cope with bullies in
school. These techniques are non-violent, simple
for the students to understand, and are non-confrontational in nature.
"Internet Safety!"
The Internet is truly a wondrous tool! You can learn just about anything with just the click of a mouse. Unfortunately, since anyone can post virtually anything online, the Internet also has some dangers our children need to understand. Thankfully, people are starting to realize that we need rules for Internet safety for our children.
This assembly program was put together with two goals in mind: 1. Explain and illustrate some of the dangers on the Internet and 2. Give both children and parents some easy-to-follow Internet safety tips to make visiting the 'Net a safe, positive experience.
During the program, Cris will show students how some downloads can damage their computers, how some people will say and claim outrageous things in order to get your personal information, and show, using a wonderous optical illusion involving the ENTIRE audience, why things are not always what they seem and why some people may not be who they claim to be online.
The program also, through the use of onstage volunteers and magic, illustrates some simple guidelines kids and parents should know about and agree to in order to stay safe online. IMPORTANT: Cris also provides the school with a master copy of his "Internet Safety Tip Sheet" that can be photocopied and sent home with each child to reinforce these important Internet safety tips.
"Drug
Free, That's Me!"
Cris' Anti-Drug Assembly Program is perfect for an elementary school Red Ribbon Week program or any other time of the year. The first half of his Anti-Drug presentation focuses on the harmful effects of drugs, and the second half of the program stresses to kids what they should do if someone tries to give them drugs. In addition, Cris has designed the assembly program for maximum flexibility, meaning if your concerns deal with specific issues, such as prescription drugs and other "legal" drugs, Cris can tailor the program for you. Cris also touches on why healthy choices are so important.
Why are these messages so important? Simple. Cris shows your audience some harmful effects of drugs and encourages them to say "No" during the program...but then explains and shows them what to do if someone offers them drugs! This is a very important distinction that separates this program from other so-called anti-drug presentations! To do this, Cris even uses role-playing with students during the program, giving your kids a blueprint for staying safe!
Now that you know a little about Cris' school assembly programs,
it's also important to understand the special
details that set him apart from other presenters.
With that in mind, here are the...
"Top
10 Reasons Why You Should Bring Cris Johnson's
School Assembly Programs To Your School"
1. Additional
Support Materials - Whenever you book one
of Cris Johnson's elementary school assemblies, you will also receive
a master copy of classroom discussion/project ideas
to use after the presentation as well as additional statistics, warning signs, and other important data. Cris has proven
that these ideas will help "extend the life"
of his assemblies long after he's gone! Cris also offers optional teacher inservice and staff development on character education issues, stress management, motivation, and more. Additional education, resources and optional programs means you are getting a character education expert, not just a 'guy making the kids laugh.'
2. Smiles & Laughter - Cris
believes the best way to teach and boost self-esteem in children is
through entertainment and laughter. Everything
ties in to Cris' messages. You'll be amazed as
you watch Cris hold the attention of several hundred
students through the use of his magic, music,
humor, audience participation and more. This leads
us to...
3. 100% Control Of The Audience - School assembly
programs are not for the faint-hearted! Not everyone
can hold the attention of 600 students for 45
minutes! After 15 years and several hundred performances,
Cris is an expert on it. In fact, he's even written
a book for other keynote youth speakers on how to present
school assembly programs effectively.
4. Targeted To Your Grade Levels - While
he's comfortable presenting one assembly for your
entire school group, Cris understands that some
schools can't fit their entire student body into
one area at one time. Therefore, Cris has created
THREE versions of each of his school assembly programs: one for
younger grades, one for older grades, and a "combo"
presentation suitable for everyone!
5. Audience Participation - Your
students are actively involved during the assembly
program. Some segments involve the entire audience
participating in structured ways from their seats
and other segments involve on-stage helpers from
the audience. No one is the butt of jokes and
everyone who helps will feel great at having had
the opportunity to help out during Cris's programs!
6. Easy To Work With! - Some
performers ask a LOT of busy school administrators.
You know the ones--they want special lighting
on stage and their own bowl of green M&M's!
Not Cris. He doesn't need any tables or special
staging or lighting from you. He can present his assembly programs anywhere - gymnasium, cafeteria, multi-use room or even classrooms. Even though Cris brings BIG magic for BIG fun, you'll be amazed at how quickly he can set up, meaning minimal disruptions in your school's schedule.
7. A TON Of Testimonials Prove The Effectiveness
Of Cris's Programs - Just look at the
column to your right to see a tiny sample of the
feedback Cris's motivational school assembly programs have received over the
years. It's one thing for a presenter to sound
his/her own horn, but it's impossible to argue
with honest feedback from school administrators
& program coordinators such as yourself.
8. Fully Insured For Your Protection - While
Cris uses NOTHING dangerous or inappropriate in
his programs (no fire, off-color humor, etc.),
he IS fully insured for your peace of mind. His
office staff can fax you a copy of his insurance
certificate to ease your concerns.
9. "Better-Than-Money-Back" Guarantee
- If someone really believes in the quality
of their programs, they shouldn't hesitate to
guarantee it. Cris Johnson's simple guarantee works like this: If for any reason
you don't feel Cris's school assembly program was worth more than
he said it was, we'll return your full fee PLUS
donate $100 to your PTA/PTO just for wasting your
time!
